Reflective Journal - Week 4

Although this unit didn't have much class material, I feel like the activities we participated in were full of learning opportunities. I have never spent much time researching team dynamic and communication. In researching and beginning the Team Building Activity I began to understand more fully the necessity for good team coordination, teamwork, and relationships. The influence these factors have on work productivity and quality is impressive to learn about and instills in me a desire to work in an environment and team that nurtures this. It was fun learning and writing about different team building activities and seeing the different ways you can begin to build trust and friendships with people you just barely met. I always understood and knew the value of good team work, but I feel that this week has influence my perspective on the actual value a good team provides. After this week I feel that I will spend extra time focusing on participating with my team, rather than just completing the work. I think when you operate in a team environment with trust and familiarity that your goals and outcomes can be reached quicker and completed with better care. This week i also had the opportunity to interview an individual who conducts interviews to hire into his business. I wrote much in my other post about what I learned from him. Putting all the things together that I was able to take from my conversation with him, I think it sums up into me having learned and better understand how to interview and what employers are looking for. Surprisingly, a large part of this is how an individual can fit into and work with a team. More than ever, I now understand that a successful team dynamic is critical to producing quality work. Being able to take this understanding with me into my future excites me. I personally think this was a great week of learning and I feel that it truly did influence my understanding and my perspective on team dynamic. I am excited to take more time to study this dynamic and team strategies, and I am excited about the benefits I should see as I implement these things into my own career and personal life as a result.
