Reflective Journal - Week 9

The future of nursing is bright! I think this study and results that we examined this week are fantastic, their vision is taking nursing in a great direction! Diversity in the workforce and treating diverse populations will increase. I think it is great that wellness is going to again be a huge focus in healthcare and in society. For so long the focus has been centered on treating symptoms rather than maintaining and promoting wellness. Primary care will see a rise as more incentive is placed on staying healthy and not becoming sick. Professionals working hand in hand to best treat their patients is the way healthcare should be handled. I believe these forums and group efforts to best support patients is vital to the future of healthcare. We will see an increase in quality of care as these systems change and as technology and education improves. Nurses have always been and will continue to be the forefront of patient care. These new focuses and systems being implemented will be done so by nurses, for nurses, and with nurses and patients in mind.

Nursing education will begin to even more so show. Higher degrees will be at the forefront of nurses/leadership positions. Those who have the most education/training should be the ones in management and helping improve the system. This design will incentivizes nurses to further their own personal education and improve as nurses. With a system being implanted that would promote easier and more accessible education, we will see a nurse workforce improve drastically in knowledge and learning. With these education improvements, nurses will be a larger part of the healthcare team and helping build a better system of the future. In our team activities we further discussed these issues and it was great to see everybody agree with the benefits of this future as we move together as nurses into the future. This interaction excites me and has risen my hope of a future better healthcare system.

I hope to take this excitement and hope for the future and begin to help with this future in mind. I plan on attaining as much education and training as I can in my nursing career and hope to be able to assist in the future in bettering the system for everybody. I am excited to be entering the workforce in today’s day and age and I am even more excited to see the way the healthcare world is trending and to see what the future holds!
